What a differece another crew makes!

After a very enjoyable evening aboard Pat and Angela's boat last night watching their video of their Severn passage a few years ago and enjoying a bottle of wine, we decided to tackle the next leg of the trip to Newbury together thereby sharing the work at locks.
We cast off at 7am and soon got into a rhythm and stopped Kintbury in order top up our water tanks.

We passed through some beautiful countryside with well kept fields and water meadows.
The day seemed to fly by with Keith seemingly over the worst of his illness.
The approach into Newbury was a treat with a swing bridge, a pub named Lock Stock and Barrel and a splendid stone balustraded bridge followed by a park.
We decided to press on through the town and are now moored up right out in the sticks just downstream from Widmead lock.
Keith replenished the grease in the stern tube reservoir and pulled off some diesel from the Fuel Purifiner that was fitted last year. This device separates out water and and any foreign bodies by centrifugal force. It was a clear as a bell!
