Decided to top up with diesel at Limekiln chandlers as the price has come back down to 69p/ltr. As soon as we cast off to come down through the two staircase locks in order to join the River Severn, it chose to start raining! So it was on with the wets and life jackets (just in case) and we were speeding off down the river at 4.2 mph according to the newly acquired Garmin GPS machine. All the manned locks were in our favor so we arrived at our first night's destination in record time. There was room for us to moor right outside the Camp House Inn at Bevere Lock where the garden is an array of wildfowl and peacocks. This time of year they are in full song trying to woo mates!
Braving the rain we ran the gauntlet of the various bird poo, that had managed to increase its footprint on the path as a result of the rain, to enjoy a very enjoyable meal. Dianne had a mini cod and chips and Keith enjoyed pulled pork all washed down with very reasonably priced local ale.
So its off down to Worcester tomorrow and to leave the river in order to enjoy the delights of the Birmingham and Worcester canal.
Elsie loves the peacocks! And I love the pulled pork ( and pickled onions ) can we come next time. ? Xx
